Frans poem

For My Beautiful Nanny The blanket you made is tightly wrapped around me, A Merrythought Bear rests its head against my knee, Knitting needles and balls of wool are strewn across my floor, And that black dress you made me hangs silently on my door. Shirley Bassey claims that diamonds are forever, But it’s hard to believe her now I know we can’t be together, You were the family treasure that shone so bright, You showed us how to behave, you were our everlasting light. You always told us that our best would be good enough for you, No matter how trying our lesson was you always pulled us through, You made it to every dance show, recital, school play and graduation, Your words of wisdom and kind, loving praise were always our salvation. A photo album lies dormant as a reminder of better days. The sewing room now seems quiet without your creative ways, The garden now seems empty without your green nimble fingers, But your astounding personality and presence forever lingers. Nanny, I miss you and I’m trying to say goodbye, But I’m struggling to cope without your comforting smile, I know that you will be watching over me through the highs and the lows, You always have been and always will be our beautiful red rose. I love you.
