Sally had met Gordon through Archie at the Brookhill. He started to come and play cards at 98 High Field Road.The hunter family home.Gordon asked Sally to the theatre, which was one of his more brilliant ideas as she loved the theatre. They were married on Dec 8th 1951 at St Margaret’s church, Ward End. Doreen was, of course, Sally’s bridesmaid along with Gordon’s sister Pat. They moved into a caravan at Hadley Road Saltley, but one winter was enough for Sally and Gordon and they moved back to the front room at 98 High Field Road with Sally’s Mum and Dad. Just about one year after they where Married fortune shone Gordon had a win on the horses and they had a late but welcome honeymoon in Jersey.
